| 1.1.3 Update available Published: November 15, 2008 Dear Noise.io users, 1.1.3 is available now for updating. What's new: + Bug fixes (thanks for reporting!) + Mapping parameter "Offset Scale" to Acc. Roll and Acc. Tilt does not produce any pitch changes. We had to do this because there was too much trouble with mr. Christopher Penrose and we have neither no time nor the funds to sort it out. However, we might get back to it later. You can still map all other parameters to accelerometer. Read More... |

Noise.io is one of the most intriguing application for iPhone/iPod Touch which is available exclusively on the AppStore. It is a unique, new-generation sound synthesizer for iPhone / iPod Touch featuring revolutionary user interface and technologies: ESFM, ControlSurface, SoftRibbon and many more. Noise.io has hit the AppStore on the 30th of October 2008 and is available for purchase for $9.99 We even received quite a bunch letters saying "I will buy an iPhone just to run your synth!" | ![]() Noise.io was hand-crafted with great care by an international team of experienced electronic musicians for own use and for:
| "Something which is really unique for musical instruments is the velocity-sensitive keyboard. The thing is that if user aims for the top of the keys, the velocity is lower, and the closer the key is tapped to the bottom, the more the velocity increases. Additionally, on any type of instrument (this of course is most useful with sustained instruments like leads) user can move the finger up-down while holding the key for instant volume changes. It's amazing how natural it feels. ![]()

Noise.io is the only and ultimate realtime/sequenced single-voice* stereo synthesizer for iPhone OS. It's main purpose is similar to those of other synthesizers (say Moog, Virus, DX-7) - creating sounds and playing them in realtime. But now you can jam with your synth ANYWHERE. There are no other applications on the iPhone and other handheld devices that even come close to what Noise.io can do. *Actually there are 4 voices (3 generators and an independent filter) which can sound at the same time, but they share pitch (detuned) and panning so we classify it as a complex single-voice synth (not to be accused of cheating). |
![]() | Noise.io is the application of choice if you're into making music or just like experimenting with something that's never been explored before. It's architecture, simple and powerful at the same time, allows creating of stunning and breathtaking instruments, sounds, sound effects and noises that actually breathe, live and evolve - as you move your fingers across the Control Surface. Noise.io is the first synthesizer to incorporate the ESFM technology - Enhanced Subspace (or Substractive) Frequency Modulation. It's a totally new approach to traditional complicated FM which has been developed especially for iPhone. The old-school complicated FM architecture has been redesigned to allow maximum user-friendly approach to creating new sounds. The results are astonishing - the control over the sounds is amazingly simple, even inexperienced people can start crafting their own sounds in no time! Check out the sound examples here! |

Noise.io -> Mixer / DAW | For the Musicians | For the DJs | MIDI? |
Noise.io is NOT a music production studio. One preset is one single yet complex melodical sequence or instrument. There's no way to layer up sounds, nor to create a full-blown song with Noise.io - it's simply not it's purpose. Noise.io is a synthesizer which takes iPhone's processing capabilities to the maximum - you will create sounds for latter recording and processing them in your favorite DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) such as Cubase, Ableton etc. | Noise.io will be very useful for any musician since it is the first professional-sounding synthesizer which fits in a pocket and can be used instantly - anywhere. Noise.io's built-in sequencers allows any melodic idea (yes it supports triple beats, any pattern length, swing tempo) to be recorded and played instantly - with the use of ControlSurface and Accelerometer support. Noise.io is a new-generation musical instrument and will possibly influence the future development of synthesizers. | Noise.io is a must-have for a DJ, being a unique instrument for adding up sound effects, so-popular-noise-swooshes, and unforgettable sound kchoks, bwoobs and pheeews that would enrich any DJ mix. People like songs which use sounds-never-heard-before (not common sampled SFX). Take an ordinary guitar song about, say, stars and layer up some "space swirls" - and the influence of the song increases dramatically. | Noise.io runs on the iPhone so it currently doesn't support MIDI (there's no way to connect a MIDI keyboard). However, user can sequence any desired melody using Noise.io's built-in sequencer, or jam anything live using Noise.io's revolutionary input interface. We're researching the possibility of MIDI over Wi-Fi and will possibly implement it in an update. |
Feel free to ask any questions in our forum. You will need to register in order to do that.
One of the major additions in v. 1.1 of Noise.io is the ability to map pitch scales to the Control Surface. There's a huge selection of available pitch scales (major, minor, arabic, diminished, aelian etc.) available and easily expanded later (leave requests in the forum in you didn't find the desired scale).
This video shows the new factory preset bank ("Across the Kaos"), now Noise.io will ship with 90 factory presets.
